Banksy Destroys His Painting Right After It Was Sold For $1.4 Million
Art has influenced the lives of many people for many generations. Over the years, many became inspired by some of history’s greatest artists and went on to develop their own style. When someone practices a specific style more than others, it becomes almost a signature for a person, making their artwork very recognizable.
While some artists have no problem with the fame and recognition, there are individuals who prefer the stress-free life of living behind the scenes. Many might simply choose to show the world something with their art that was not considered before.
Banksy is an anonymous street artist known for his controversial works of art. Despite his being based in England, his works have been seen all over the world.
Well-known for his activism in politics, many of his pieces of street art draw the ire of large groups of people. It’s probably a good idea to remain anonymous to ensure his safety, but it shows that Banksy is not into producing art for the recognition or the monetary benefit of selling a piece.
The anon’s work was once snuck into a California theme park and has even attempted to sell his art on the streets of New York. Resident accused the stall operator of selling fakes because no Banksy would sell for as cheap as $60.
A few weeks ago a Banksy named Girl with Balloon sold at auction for $1.4 million. What’s more surprising than the price tag is what happened to the painting. Just after the sale was completed, a shredder built into the frame began to tear apart the painting.
Video and pictures show the looks of shock and dismay at those in attendance.
This is incredible.

Banksy posted a video to Instagram a few weeks after the incident showing him building the shredder into the frame. The caption for his post was a quote from Pablo Picasso: “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge.”
