Oscars Dresses: The 8 Best of All Time

The Oscars is a black-tie event where men are usually adorned in suits and tuxedos as women waltz in their ball-gowns and evening gowns.

The Oscars red carpet, just like any other award ceremony is filled with the glitz and glamour of the famous faces in entertainment. It is where designers also showcase their work through the various clothes worn by celebrities.

Lupita Nyong’o

Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o stepped on to the 2014 Oscars red carpet adorned in a powder blue Prada dress. The dress won the hearts of many. This was when she was nominated for 12 Years a Slave.

The dress had a signature plunging neckline and felt like it fell straight from a cinderella story. She paired it with a matching mint mani.

That was not the first stunner Lupita wore to the Oscars. In 2018, the Kenyan actress adorned a Versace dress that had the feel of the Roman empire days.

It cupped her figure at the top and flowed at the bottom. It was not without a peek of her legs from the thigh-high slit which complimented her perfectly.

Phenomenal actress Halle Berry has set style trends on the Oscars red carpet for many years. Her 2003 golden Elie Saab gown was definitely one for the books.

The $20,000 dress glittered and had a semi-transparent bottom part. She paired the one-handed dress with a golden clutch. She also wowed the red carpet in another great gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab the year before.

This one had a deep red bottom and a sheer top embroidered with flowers.

And then I came to the Oscars. The process this morning was so stressful, I felt like Steve Martin in Father of the Bride, watching my house just be torn apart, my whole family was there getting ready, my friends stopped by, it was kind of fun but mostly chaotic,” she said.

Singer Lady Gaga has always exuded an edgy and eclectic fashion sense. While not all her looks have been voted worthy, her 2016 Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit was bold and beautiful. She also wowed the 2019 Oscar red carpet in her custom made Alexander McQueen.
