Top 10 Scary Movies Of All Time Listed

How would Halloween, the day of spooks, scares, and evil be complete without creepy, hair lifting Halloween tales and movies? Hollywood movie productions have been delivering one blockbuster after another to keep the festivities lively.

Those who do not go for trick or treating or Halloween themed parties prefer binge-watching the latest Halloween movies or re-watching an omnibus of their favorite spooky movies.

Halloween (1978)

This movie set the standards of all Halloween blockbusters to date.

Written and directed by John Carpenter, the movie is about a psychopathic young boy who killed his fifteen-year-old sister at the age of six.

He was sent to a psych hospital then escaped after fifteen years and went back to his home town to kill his other sister Laurie and create havoc.

Scooby-Doo (1969)

Many have grown knowing this cartoon as one of the best Halloween themed series and movies of all time.

“Scooby dooby doo, where are you!” as the theme song would get viewers psyched up to see what crime and mystery the gang would unravel next.

Shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, Velma and Fred would drive around in their mystery van to catch the bad guys scaring people and making people disappear.

Corpse Bride (2005)

Humour fused with a bit of scare is good for the soul. A great way to incorporate the little ones in watching a fun and scary movie is through animations that are rib cracking for the family.

Corpse Bride is a hilarious Halloween animation movie where a young man practices close to the grave of a deceased woman who later rises from the dead assuming to be his wife.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

In the town of Sleepy Hollow, three people die by decapitation. This is the signature mark of a ghost-like image of a person known as ‘The Headless Horseman’ who rides around killing people in search of his head. Ichabod Crane is sent to investigate these mysterious deaths.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Frankenstein was not the only creation of a mad scientist. Edward Scissorhands was also a manmade creation who lived in solitary. Just as the title suggests, he had scissors for hands.

He later meets a woman who introduces him to the outside world. Would it be considered rude to deny greeting him by the hand if he extends his hand for a handshake?

The Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Freddie Krueger was a name that would freeze one’s blood and make your tummy sink in terror. A disfigured knife-gloved man would appear in the dreams of teenagers and still kill them in reality.

This then would later lead to Nancy speculating that there is a pile of secrets that need to be unraveled.

Based on true events that took place, a woman is troubled by her demon-infested daughter who levitates and speaks in a non-earthly language.

She decides to seek intervention. She meets two priests who perform an exorcism on her daughter.

IT (2017)

Suspicion was raised after children started disappearing in the town of Derry, Maine never to be found. A shape-shifting creature disguised as a clown called Pennywise was responsible for the mystery of the missing kids.

It would trick kids and later make them disappear. IT was based on the mysterious novel by Stephen King’s in 1986 going by the same name.

It is up to four kids who find clues and attempt to do away with it, but do they succeed?

The Ring (2002)

In this scary movie, after watching a videotape, the characters would get a mysterious phone call telling them that they would die 7 days from the day they watched it.

Investigator Rachelle Keller is sent to investigate the death of 4 teenagers who watched the video. She looks for the video and watches it to unravel the mystery.

Child’s Play (2019)

A mass murderer, who was gunned down by detective Mike Norris, comes back to life through dark magic. He takes possession of the doll, Chucky who was gifted to Andy by his mother.

Andy discovers Chucky comes to life and kills his baby sitter. He tries to warn his family but they do not take him seriously until his mother discovers he was not lying.
