Beyonce or Queen Bee as most of her fans refer her to was born in Houston, Texas on September 4th. She is the firstborn in a family of four.

Beyonce is the daughter to Tina and Mathew Knowles and elder sister to the famous musician, Solange Knowles. Growing up, her mother worked as a salon owner and hairdresser while her father was a sales manager.

Beyonce wasn’t born a star, but her interest in music peaked early in life and she hasn’t looked back since.

Beyonce’s powerful singing voice was realized by Darlette Johnson who was her dance instructor while studying at St. Mary’s Montessori School in Houston. Her ability to hit the high notes astounded the instructor.

Her curiosity for music grew day by day and eventually, she started winning talent shows, beating older students.

In high school, she schooled at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before moving to Alief Elsik High School later.

All girl-group Destiny’s Child that blew up in the late ’90s was initially made up of three members before some dropped out, others joined and dropped out eventually leaving just three. We all know Beyonce, Mitchelle and Kelly Rowland who stayed put and went on to win multiple awards.

The original members of the group were an 8-year-old Beyonce, childhood friend Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson who met while auditioning for an all-girl entertainment group. They were placed into a group called Girl’s Tyme with three other girls, and rapped and danced on the talent show circuit in Houston.

That was the beginning of an exciting journey.

It wasn’t a rosy journey as there were lawsuits levied against their manager and Beyonce’s dad for favoring his daughter and keeping disproportional profits.

The group has hit songs like ‘Say My Name’, ‘No No No No’ and ‘Say My Name’. Beyonce was a focal point to the group. Beyonce’s mother would make their outfits and her father quit his job to manage the girl group.
