Scientists Claim They Have Found A Way To Upload Knowledge To Our Brains

Any time we’re presented with the idea of future technologies, it’s only natural that we end up having a ton of questions to ask. In the Matrix, it wasn’t hard for those questions to be asked. Neo and his cohorts simply jumped into a chair and bam, they had more than decade’s worth of knowledge.

This device worked on the principle that the human brain could absorb information the same way a file was downloaded to a computer. In the movie, Neo becomes a martial arts expert in a matter of seconds. It sounds like it could never happen in real life, right?

One group of researchers from California-based HRL Laboratories is rumored to have developed a conceptual model of the same technology that Neo and his comrades used in the movie series.

These researchers claim to have created a ‘lite’ version of the chair of knowledge. No, you don’t have to spear the back of your head with a giant needle to inject your brain.

Instead, in the study conducted by the group, electrodes were attached via head-cap to feed participants the learned information form while learning to fly in a flight simulator. There was a significant increase in flight ability for certain participants.

“It sounds kind of sci-fi,” said Dr. Matthew Phillips, “but there’s large scientific basis for the development of our system. The specific task we were looking for was piloting an aircraft, which requires a synergy of both cognitive and motor performance.”

The study also found that certain information is stored in pinky-sized portions of the brain.

Dr. Phillips firmly believes that the system his team developed can be used for things like learning a new language or gaining the skills to drive a car.

As cool as it would be to learn new skills with this tech, we should all probably wait until more testing is done. Then we can decide how fast we want to learn something we didn’t know before.
