Celebrities Who Suffered From Burnout
It is natural to want to for adults to want to dedicate themselves to their work. At times, it can be a great asset to have such a dedicated person. But too much dedicated to a job can result in a person ‘burning out.’
If you’ve ever felt like your energy was complete sapped no matter what you did, you’ve probably experienced this. It is something many celebrities suffer from, and here are six who gone through “burnout” before:
1. Tiffany Haddish
Comedian Tiffany Haddish has been in a number of movies both on-screen and as a voice actor. Known mostly for her stand-up, the comedienne spoke with TMZ about her experience with “burnout” and why the much-talked-about New Year’s Eve performance didn’t go so well. “See, your brain is an interesting thing when it doesn’t get the proper amount of rest. You gotta understand, I’ve worked almost every day last year.”
In the same year, the female comedy star didn’t get more than 28 days in her bed at home.
Known as the “Queen Bee” in pop culture, Beyonce is no stranger to attending multiple shows and events in a short span of time. With her always being so busy, it should come as no surprise that she would succumb to “burnout” eventually.
The songstress mother of 3 has previously canceled due to exhaustion. If you wonder where she went in 2011, it was a break for her to get her mind right. “It was beginning to get fuzzy – I couldn’t even tell which day or which city I was at. I would sit there at ceremonies and they would give me an award and I was just thinking about the next performance. My mother was very persistent and she kept saying that I had to take care of my mental health.”
It is dangerous to get to the point that Mrs. Knowles did and let the days bleed into each other. When you exhaust yourself to the point your memory is affected, permanent brain damage can occur.
3. Meghan Markle
When it comes to being part of the royal family, there’s no doubt that every day has some sort of excitement. But burnout can affect even the most regal of individuals if they are not careful. It was early in her pregnancy when she didn’t attend a two-day royal trip to Zambia with Prince Harry.
Both Markle and her husband thought it best she tended to her own well-being over tending to royal matters. Any woman currently pregnant should take a page from Markle’s book and take it easy. Take care of your own health while you are carrying, regardless of others’ opinions.
5. Selena Gomez
Having gotten her start on the Barney and Friends Show, she later became one of the magical children in Wizards of Waverly Place. She is also now the most followed woman on Instagram, a hard to acquire title on any site.
Gomez is no stranger to burning out and even chose to receive dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help. In an interview with Vogue, Selena Gomez shared the therapy changed her whole life around. Regarding her hiatus, the young actress stated “for a change, it feels like I don’t have to be holding my breath and waiting for somebody to judge a piece of work that I’m doing. I’m not that eager to chase a moment. I don’t think there’s a moment for me to chase.”
6. Hillary Duff
Though she started on a little-known series titled The Lizzie McGuire Show, she eventually began to sing and produce music which later on aired on MTV. During her days as a pop star in ’05, doing things for the network took so much out of her it was hard to cope with the burnout. “It’s the type of exhaustion that one night of sleep doesn’t fix.”
If one night of sleep can’t fix it, you’re more than likely burned out.
7. Lily Singh
Singh is the hilarious creator of the “If men” video series on YouTube. Although she shells out content like a madwoman, she eventually took a much-need break. “I am mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted,” she told her viewers in a video. “There’s a lot that I need to address, and I’m not able to when I am constantly pumping out content.”
I enjoy my fair share of YouTube videos, movies, and music. But as a human, I understand the need to take a break for health reasons. We should all remember to take a break when our work feels like too much.
