Celebrities Who Died in 2019: Famous Faces That We Lost

2019  has had its highs and lows. The passing of celebrities has been felt all over. Here are some of the stars we lost this year.

1. Grumpy Cat

Internet sensation grumpy cat died at 7 years old on May 17. This was after she experienced complications from a urinary tract infection.

2. Ron Leibman

Ron Leibman who acted on Friends as Rachel’s dad died at the ripe age of 82 in New York City. He passed on after suffering from pneumonia on December 6. He bagged Tony Award in 1993 for his performance on Broadway’s “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches.

Rene Auberjonois

Famously known for his role on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Rene Auberjonois died when he was 79 years old on December 8. According to his son Remy-Luc Auberjonois, his father died of metastatic lung cancer at his L.A. home.

The Tony Award winner also starred in the film M.A.S.H. and on the sitcom Benson and voiced Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid.

3. Nipsey Hussle

On March 31, rapper Nipsey Hussle met his untimely death after he was shot outside of his Los Angeles clothing store. He was 33 years old.

4. Karl Lagerfeld

Iconic Chanel fashionprenuer Karl Lagerfield at 85 on Feb 19. He dominated the fashion world with his stellar style and designs for fifty years.

He was mourned by many celebrities.

5. Chuy Bravo

If you watched ‘Chelsea Lately’ then you have a vivid memory of Chuy Bravo, whose real name is Jesus Melgoza. The actor who had dwarfism was comedian Chelsea Handler’s sidekick and hype man on the show.

He died on Dec. 14 in a Mexico City hospital at the age of 63. According to his family, Chuy was rushed to the emergency room with gastrointestinal hemorrhage and soon after suffered a heart attack.

Taking to social media, Chelsea paid tribute to her friend and co-star saying, “I loved this nugget in a big way, and I took great pleasure in how many people loved him as much as I did and do.”

6. Juice Wrld

American rising star rapper Juice Wrld, whose real name is Jarad Anthony Higgins, died on December 8 after suffering a seizure at Chicago Midway Airport. He died at the young age of 21 after flying back to his hometown.

His cause of death was not immediately established. The star will be remembered for his hits ‘lucid dreams’ and ‘All Girls Are The Same’. He also featured on  Travis Scott’s “AstroWorld” album.

7. Keith Flint

On March 4, Keith was found dead at his home near London. He was the lead singer to British dance-electronic band The Prodigy.

8. John Clarke

The Days of Our Lives star, who played Mickey Horton, died at age 88 on October 16 due to complications of pneumonia.

He had suffered a stroke in 2007 and was in poor health in his final years.

9. George Atkinson III

Former NFL running back George Atkinson died at the age of 27 on December 2, nearly one year after his twin brother Josh Atkinson’s suicide.

George had reportedly been battling depression since Josh’s death. His cause of death was not immediately announced.

10. Luke Perry

Riverdale and Dr 90210 actor Luke Perry died on March 4. Just five days earlier, he had suffered a massive stroke. The news of his death broke many fans’ hearts.

11. Danny Aiello

Actor Danny Aiello died on December 12 at the age of 86. He suffered a brief illness before kicking the bucket.

He is famously remembered for starring in movies such as Do the Right ThingThe Godfather Part II and Moonstruck.

12. Marie Fredriksson

After a long, 17-year battle with cancer, famous Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson died on December 9 at age 61.

Her famous hits included “It Must Have Been Love” and “Listen to Your Heart.”

13. Kevin Barnett

Actor and comedian Kevin Barnett died on Jan 22 of pancreatitis complications during a vacation in Mexico.

14. Shelley Morrison

The actress died at age 83 on December 1 from heart failure after a brief illness.

She was best known for playing maid Rosario Salazar on Will & Grace from 1999 to 2006.

15. Russi Taylor


The voice of Minnie Mouse whom we grew to love for over three decades died on July 26 from colon cancer. She was 75 at the time.
