Walt Disney which was previously known for family-friendly cartoons and animated films has in the past few years diversified to create other genres of films and the move has proved beneficial.
The switch-up has paid big bucks with several box office hits and blockbusters emanating from the studio.
In 2016, Disney became the first studio ever to pass $7 billion in a single year.
Marvel comics superhero squad the Avengers made a groundbreaking come-back that skyrocketed them to the top earner of all Disney movies. The movie that was released on April 22, 2019, amassed $853 million at the domestic box office.
This makes it the second-highest-grossing movie in North America behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
The movie which is 22nd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe features an all-star cast including of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.
