8 Reasons Why People Love Hugh Jackman
Australian actor Hugh Jackman is known and loved by fans worldwide.
He is Hollywood’s version of a ‘Jack of all trades’ and everything he touches pretty much turns into gold. Here are eight reasons why Hugh’s praises run far and wide globally.
He Is Wolverine
Despite not being X-men’s first choice for the role of Wolverine and being taller than the character in the books, Hugh went in and made the character into a global phenomenon.
He delivered such an incredible performance that he is now one of the film franchise’s most popular characters and has appeared in every franchise movie since.
For his role as Wolverine, he holds the Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero”. His patented brand of clawed violence and moody frowning has brought us some great cinematic moments.
His Singing Chops
Happy Feet, Les Misérables, and The Greatest Showman have all shown us that Jackman excels at the art of the musical.
He was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, in 2013.
He Is A Hopeless Romantic
Hollywood is filled with couples that have divorced countless times but Hugh Jackman is fortunately not on that list. Hugh has been married to his wife and fellow Aussie actress, Deborra-Lee Furness for 23 years which by any standards is quite impressive.
The 50-year-old actor met Deborra while on the set of Australian drama Corelli in 1995 and previously said he knew within two weeks that they would be together for the rest of their lives, and proposed just four months later.
Hugh often praises his wife who is thirteen years his senior. He has in several interviews spoken about how lucky he feels to have met her before his successful film and TV career began.
“I really think it helps that we were together before any of that,” he said on the Today Show in 2018. “So we’ve been on this unbelievable journey, places we never thought we’d go to and we’ve done it together.”
He Is A Family Guy
Hugh Jackman and his wife are blessed to be parents to two adorable children whom they adopted and Hugh never gets enough of sharing them on his social media pages.
Their son Oscar Maximilian Jackman was born in May 2000 and daughter Ava Eliot Jackman was born in July 2005.
In a 2004 interview on Enough Rope With Andrew Denton, Furness confirmed that she and Jackman adopted Oscar because she previously suffered two miscarriages.
“It’s like this, we had some miscarriages and we tried, we did the IVF and we were always going to, we wanted to have a child and adopt a child.
So we always had that plan anyway. So it just sort of changed the plans around. And then you know we were upset obviously when we didn’t get pregnant and we had the miscarriages.
And then when we went to, oh well we’ll just adopt first, it was like what were we worried about, and it was it just happened so it was no big deal,” she said.
His Moment With Jennifer Lawrence At The Oscars
During the 2013 Oscars, as award-winning actress Jenniffer Lawrence was going up the stage to receive her award for the best female actress, she accidentally tripped on her dress and fell.
While most celebrities remained seated, shocked at the occurrence, Hugh did not hesitate. He sprung into action and was captured on camera running to help her up.
This move never went unnoticed by fans and many are still praising him about it to this day. Human decency does go a long way.
His Gym Ethic
Hugh is a fitness junkie and one look at his body and you will understand just why. He keeps fit through eating the proper diet and going to the gym.
He, however, shows his fans that he is human by sharing times he has fallen off the fitness wagon and his cheat day meals. He is a typical foodie.
He’s A Funny Guy
Despite knowing him for his intense character playing Wolverine in the box office hit the X-Men, the award-winning star is a funny guy in real life.
There is hardly any interview you will watch of Hugh that won’t have you rolling on the floor with laughter. He is a smart actor who knows when to laugh and when to keep it serious, a true entertainer.
He Can Act
Hugh is a versatile actor and has proved that he can take up any type of role and successfully pull it off. While he is known for his pair of oversized sideburns and some pointy claws as Wolverine, Hugh has excelled in many more diverse characters.
He has wowed fans with many musical numbers, tackled science fiction (The Fountain), epic drama (Australia) and rom-com as the perfect gentleman(Kate & Leopold).
He played the cold-blooded evil guy in ‘Deception’ and ‘Scoop’, and the monster killing pro in ‘Van Helsing’. To add on to his acting prowess, he is also an acclaimed actor on Broadway. We’d like to think this Tony award-winner can do absolutely anything.
