It’s useless to talk about how healthy working out is. We all know it, we all accepted it. Exercise is a crucial part of our overall wellbeing and is necessary if we want to be healthy in the long run. And although we are all very well aware of it, still millions of us still struggle to form a strong habit and accept working out as a normal part of our routine.

You surely know how good it feels after a good sweat out. Find The Right Kind Of Workout

A lot of people have been struggling with working out and staying in shape just because they didn’t find the right physical activity that would fit their personality. If you’re looking for motivation to get yourself going, then it would be silly to force yourself to run if you simply enjoy swimming. Or the contrary.

Give yourself time to experiment for a month or two, try different things and write down how you felt, what you liked or disliked after each workout. At one point, you will just find that you like one activity much more than all others combined. In this moment, it will be easier to keep yourself inspired for a much longer amount of time.

Reframe Your Goals

Stop thinking that you want to “lose weight” or “get in shape”. Instead, find a better goal that is going to be more applicable to how you want to live your life. Something that won’t only affect how you want to “see” yourself, but rather something that you can “feel” in different aspects of your life.

For instance, instead of saying “I want to lose 25 pounds”, try setting your goal to be something like “I want to be a happy and fulfilled person”. This means that your wish goes beyond the mere goal of losing 25 pounds. You can shed them in 2 or 3 or even 5 months, and then you should stop? Not really.

Think of yourself as a healthy, disciplined person and remind yourself of it when you feel like skipping your workouts.

Keep Your Workouts Short

Even little workout is better than no workout. In the beginning, it is more important to get your body used to training. To make it a pleasant experience for your brain and muscles, start out slow.

Keep your workouts short until you want more. These brief workouts might not give you the maximum results, but they will gradually ease you into the working out life. What’s important here is to stay consistent. It’s ok if you have a 15 to 20 minutes workout, but then at least try to keep it a regular thing until you become stronger.

Eventually, your body will crave more exercise and higher intensity.

Set Small Fitness Goals

Instead of expecting yourself to run 5k in a month after you haven’t moved properly for ages, set a goal that will be feasible. For instance, you could start by doing 20 push-ups a day, spending 15 minutes working out, or anything similar that will get you moving.

Once you set small fitness goals, you will see that you will almost always want to do more of everything you previously planned. Since you’re already sitting their doing push-ups, why not do another round of them?

Find A Workout Buddy

Everything is easier when in the company. Find a friend that is in the same position as you, or slightly more active, and find a physical activity that you both enjoy. Challenge yourselves and set up rewards and punishments. In the beginning you might find it a bit hard to work on your discipline so much, but after a while, you will love it and eventually you wouldn’t want to imagine your life without it.
