When I first heard of “lemongrass,” I assumed it was added as part of a drink or food’s flavor profile. In addition to having a flavor similar to the lemon fruit, it boasts a load of antioxidants.

Those contained in lemongrass, chlorogenic acid, isoorientin, and swertiajaponin, can help ‘remove’ free radicals from your system. It could even help keep the cells of your coronary arteries healthy for longer than normally expected.

A 2012 National Institutes of Health study found that the essential oil had an antimicrobial edge on the Streptococcus mutans bacterium. For those unaware, it is responsible for most dental infections and decay.
