Everyone loves a good love story and the pressure of pulling off such a convincing performance lies on the shoulders of actors and actresses.  Actors do a great job of looking put together in perfectly curated scenes when their lives are falling apart.

It takes a lot for a person to pretend they like you and even have intimate moments with you when all they want to do is kick your face in. Theirs is an art of performance no ordinary person can pull off.

These on set couples sure did a great job at duping us into believing the romance was real but when the camera’s stopped rolling things were the absolute opposite. For some of these couples, the feuds started after a relationship breakup but for others, they simply could not connect.

Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder – The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries was one of the biggest series for a few years and the intrigue came with its steamy hot romances particularly between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. Dobrev played Elena Gilbert and Somerhalder played Damon Salvatore and their drama kept fans glued to the series for 8 seasons.

The two hit it off early on and dated for three years off-camera before things went south. Their breakup was said to be messy and ugly and it is rumored that things got rather chilly on set after they split. Miss Dobrev later went on to leave the show.

Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush – One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill lead characters Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush got married in real life but their relationship lasted a mere five months. They still had to work together after the split and the duo made things uncomfortable on set. Later on, Sophia claimed that producers milked their split and promoted a media circus around it.

Dakota Johnson And Jamie Dornan- Fifty Shades of Grey

For a movie as intense as Fifty Shades of Grey, many fans were quick to criticize the apparent lack of chemistry required from the lead co-stars to pull it off. It is as if the movie left most people thirsty for more and they blamed it on the Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.

Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams – The Notebook

Co-stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams met on the set of one of the most iconic rom-com’s of all time ‘The Notebook’. Despite the nature of the movie, the Director reported that from the onset the two never got along. It was so bad that Gosling attempted to get another actress on set and kick Rachel out. They regularly got into screaming matches according to the Director.

The movie surprisingly performed well at the box Office taking home a number of awards despite their personal feelings towards each other. They also proved that sexual tension might have been the cause of their disagreements as they later dated for three years.

Naya Rivera & Mark Salling – Glee

It is no secret that glee actors Naya Rivera and Mark Salling were a couple of off-camera for the entire season one of the show. They are however rumored to have split up after the ‘bad-boy’ supposedly cheated on her.

At the top of his game at the time, who could blame him. She paid back by egging and scratching his car. Rivera revealed later that the relationship truly taught her a lot.

Leonardo DiCaprio And Claire Danes- Romeo And Juliet

Turns out the smiles and the chemistry between these two co-stars only existed as long as the cameras were on. It is reported that Miss Danes wasn’t taken by Dicaprio’s prankster antics and called him out on it. The then 16-year-old claimed that he was too immature. DiCaprio retaliated by calling her stuck-up.

Patrick Swayze And Jennifer Grey – Dirty Dancing

The friction between Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey started way before Dirty Dancing but working so close together yet again amplified it. According to Swayze, Jennifer was too emotional and her irrational outbursts really irritated him. Surprisingly they managed to patch things up later and have been good friends ever since.

If you’ve watched any movies where these two have acted you already know that their personalities do not mesh together at all. Their acting styles differ greatly. Witherspoon likes order and proper preparation before shooting a scene and this typically involves a lot of rehearsals. Vince, on the other hand, likes to wing it. Reese was disgusted at his laid back approach while Vince called her too uptight.
