Tupac Shakur: Rise and Death of Famous Rapper

Famous rapper Tupac Shakur died more than twenty years ago, but he is still one of the most influenzal rappers.

Even today’s big stars, such as Eminem, are claiming that 2Pac had a massive influence on their lives and careers.

At the moment of death, Tupac w2as only 25 years old. Today, he would have been 46 today. Interestingly, Shakur’s career lasted for only five years; it doesn’t make his influence less significant.

Decades after his death, his art still matters.

Tupac Shakur Early Life

Famous rapper 2Pac was born as Lesane Parish Crooks, but he is better known as Tupac Amaru Shakur on June 16 in far 1971.

Amaru was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. His parents, Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland, were active members of the Black Panther Party.

Once young Lesane turn one, he was renamed by his mother, and her mom gave him a new name – Tupac Amaru II, base on the 18th-century Peruvian revolutionary who was executed after leading an indigenous uprising against Spanish rule.

“Tupac” derives from the Quechua language word “Tupac,” meaning “royal.”

2Pac had relatives, a stepbrother Mopreme “Komani” Shakur, who often performed next to him, and a stepsister, Sekyiwa, two years his junior.

In the distance 1984, the entire family moved from New York to Baltimore, Maryland.

Tupac Shakur Education

In Baltimore, young Shakur started his education. He attended Roland Park Middle School for the eighth grade and then attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School for two years.

Little is known, but Tupac actually had a strong passion for jazz, poetry, acting, and ballet.

So, after completing his second year at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Shakur transferred to the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he had an opportunity to soak into the world of art entirely.

That’s where he first started exploring the wondrous world of hip-hop and rapping.

One by one, he started winning various rapping competitions and was considered to be the best rapper in the school.

He is till remember by his classmates for his gentle nature, sense of humor, and strong rapping skills and his ability yo mix it with all crowds.

His youth was also marked with strong friendship with Jada Pinkett (later Jada Pinkett Smith) that lasted until his death. In the documentary Tupac: Resurrection, Shakur says, “Jada is my heart. She will be my friend for my whole life.”

Pinkett Smith calls him “one of my best friends. He was like a brother. It was beyond friendship for us. The type of relationship we had, you only get that once in a lifetime.”

Tupac Shakur Music Career

Shakur started his professional career in New York, and even his allies were NY related. He was performing under an alias MC New York.

He began recording in 1989, while his career take off in the early 1990swhen his song “Same Song” from the soundtrack to the 1991 film Nothing but Trouble was released.

He also appeared in that movie. n November 1991, Shakur released his debut solo album, 2Pacalypse Now, and everything from here is history.

Tupac Shakur Personal Life

While 2Pac created a fantastic art, he was also fighting personal drama. He had a number of legal issues, including a sexual assault conviction.

In November 1993, Shakur and others were charged in New York with sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room.

He was also convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, the position of the weapon, and sodomy charges.

At the time, his bail was $1.4 million. Eventually, he served nine months of his sentence and was released from the Clinton Correctional Facility on October 12, 1995. His bail was posted by Suge Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records. That’s why 2Pac had to release three albums under the Death Row label.

While imprisoned, Tupac became interested in philosophy, military strategy, and philosophy of war.

He was especially mesmerized by Italian philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli and The Art of War by Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu. That’s how his pseudonym “Makaveli,” was born.

Tupac has released a total of 11 platinum albums: four during his career, with seven more released posthumously.

To date, Tupac has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.

Death

After surviving being shot five times in 1994, Shakur was sentenced to serve four and a half years in prison for a sexual assault charge in 1995.

After being on freedom again, Tupac released his third album named Me Against the World, which became the first No. 1 album released by an artist during a prison stint. In total, the album was sold for amazing 3 million copies.

On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times while stopped at a red light in Suge Knight’s car in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Six days later, he died. Until this day, his death remains a mystery, and his murder case remains unresolved.
